From Incentive & promotional gifts to gifts with Singapore heritage

Many marketing experts tell me that it is most important to stay on top of your customer’s mind all the time.  Qua is excited to bring unique promotional and gift ideas that are featured in the Office and Home.  So, where ever the customers are, they are reminded of your organisation, product or service. Click on each gift category for more details:

1  Singapore Gifts for the overseas guests and to celebrate our Singapore’s Golden Jubilee
2  Festive Gifts for the Christmas and CNY giveaway
3  Incentive & Promotional Gifts that propogate any brand or message and will reach your target segment on every level
4  Eco Friendly Gifts that sends the message the organisation is environmentally responsible, care for the community, AND innovative too!

Singapore culture plays a big part in our designs. We are inspired by it when we create new designs for our products. Qua has designed the Harmony Collection, which is derived from symbols of the main ethnic groups in Singapore: Malay, Indian and Chinese and Eurasian.

Take a look at the Harmony Collection’s painting process, inspiration, product types and the Musical Box hands-on in the video below:

Brief History: Why Peranakan Tiles Became so Precious

In 1935, the production of these tiles slowly diminishes as discovery of the raw ingredients used to make the tiles are found to be harmful to the human body. Later as the industrial revolution overtook the pace of these handicraft tiles, followed by a political reform after the British left has made the Peranakans helpless without support of their perceived racial differences.  New policies of classifying Peranakans back into Chinese culture have led to the disappearance of their unique heritage.

Industrialization in the 1970s has also resulted in demolishing of pre-war shop houses and unique buildings along with many motif tiles, leaving many decorative tiles broken, and thrown into dumps.

Today, these Peranakan tiles were of a rare sight and truly a collector’s item.

Our Ambitious Foresight

The Peranakan collection was inspired to preserve and present the finest appreciation of these classical motifs. Combining with the luster of lacquer, The Peranakan collection aims to blend the Straits Chinese unique tiles into single uniquely crafted pieces while keeping with their traditions of adaptability and flexibility in design and function, spicing up modern-minimalist or accentuating classics. Problem is – where do we actually get the tiles that were no longer in production?

Dreams do Come True

We were thankful to be able to be in contact with Mr Victor Lim from Aster by Kyra, a member of the Peranakan Association Singapore.  Mr Victor Lim is a Peranakan tile enthusiast, who since young painstakingly searched for decorative Peranakan tiles at places where old buildings were located – Emerald Hill, Katong, Geylang, Killney Road, Bishopsgate among others.

Through our collaborations, we were able obtain these beautiful gems of the Peranakan heritage in limited quantities. We will like to take this opportunity to also thank Mr Victor Lim for his generous help and fruitful collaboration.
